The mission of the Friends of Bald Mountain Recreation Area is to preserve and protect the unique and sensitive natural resources within Bald Mountain Recreation Area, promoting and supporting outdoor recreational opportunities for all citizens.

Preserving History in the Park
Oakland county is host to more than 130 sites designated under the State Register of Historic Sites. These sites are recognized with a Michigan historic marker commonly seen across the Michigan landscape. Bald Mountain Recreation Area is host to two of these markers, as well as a third site recognized under the National Trust for Historic Places.

The National Trust designation, approved in 2013, recognizes the five structures related to Trout Lake in the south unit.
